Sach ka Samna: Don’t try this at home

It is better to keep some truth under veil, for the sake of peace. It is very hard for a father to keeps his cool after listening that he is not ‘father’ of his child. Revealing this truth a wife in rural Meerut suffers a fatal cut at her throat, later the convicted husband goes to custody.

When the couple, Rajesh and Asha, went out for a walk on the banks of Gang Naher on the village outskirts, Rajesh managed to convince Asha for a try run of the reality show. First, Rajesh took the hot seat as Asha played the host. Even as Asha asked him about his link-ups before the marriage, Rajesh came up with the truth, revealing some facts of life which his wife was not happy to know about. But Rajesh remained undeterred and bared his soul.

Next, the couple swapped places. Now Rajesh opted to play the host and Asha was on the hot seat. After a few routine questions, Rajesh shot a pointed one when he asked Asha if she had any extra-marital affair. Initially reluctant, Asha nodded in affirmative after Rajesh assured her that the truth will not spoil their relationship.

“One after the other, he reportedly asked her some of the most piercing questions that a wife may find difficult to answer truthfully before her husband. Things came to a pass when, replying to a question, Asha revealed that Rajesh was not the father of either of their two children,” said superintendent of police (SP) Rural Areas (RA) Meerut, S Sachaan. This apparently came as the proverbial last straw for Rajesh.

In a fit of rage, Rajesh took out a blade that he was carrying in his pocket and slit the throat of Asha, who hit the ground, bleeding profusely. Taking Asha to be dead, Rajesh then fled the scene. However, later in the night some passers-by heard the cries of Asha and informed the police. She was rushed to a hospital where she was battling for her life till late on Wednesday night.

On the statement of Asha, Rajesh was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after which he revealed that he was suspicious about his wife’s conduct and that she had an extra-marital affair. “I knew she would not confess that before me if I ask her directly, so I brought this reality show element into it,” he said talking to the police. According to him, he deliberately told Asha about his unreal link-ups before marriage just to win her confidence and the trick worked.

Don't listen to the truth if you can't bear it.

The truth is that there are no laws to protect men’s rights especially when women commit misdeeds! This is the bottomline. It is upto men now to unite and fight for their rights. Section 497 of the IPC states that only a man can be convicted of adultery. and that women are abla naris or innocent creatures. What would you do if you were to find the same thing in your life???

this program is indian version of an american show. but before making such shows, producers need to realise that indians are not prepared for such bold shows yet. here people do all sort of nonsense behind closed doors and otherwise pretend to be saints.

@Swati,

The bottomline is that paternity frauds are very high in India. If this can happen in rural India, imagine how it would be in urban India where women are empowered. No man can ever tolerate the fact that his kids are not his own. Still, while the woman plays the fraud, the man is made to pay for the expenses of ”his” children. THIS IS REAL SHAME!

I am astonished to see the man, the father of the two kids didn’t know about the ’matter’, before this night.

He suspected it. Otherwise, he wouldn’t weave a story to trap his woman. But the woman was very clever to hide everything.

Voyuerism can’t be a good thing. People are going ballistic watching other people wash their dirty linen in public; how can that possibly be entertaining? What sort of emotional imbalance are we bearing and perpetuating? This story is symbolic of the excesses of human life; evey life has its own quotient of drama and misdemeanours; trivialising them and treating them like a ’game show’ - how intelligent is that? Sometimes our need for sensationalism is mind boggling. This is blatant, mindless, misdirected Americanisation at its worst.

I agree with you on this. We have become excessively Americanised.

Nobody is perfect.Even great people had their share of mistakes.Man is made of various weaknesses.Everyone can’t become Mahatama Gandhi.Old saying goes that truth is evergreen but at the same time truth is bitter too.After all why to scratch one’s past ? Live in the present and think of a better future.This should be the mantra of life.

@Raj,

Would you live with the fact that your kids are not yours and that your wife has extra-marital affairs? Its not about pre-marital affairs. This is post-marital and about paternity fraud. This is a serious crime and breach of trust. One cannot philosophise about these things.
