Forget ruler, cane, tight slap; punish (and kill) student by throwing duster

Another student died in West Bengal thanks to fury of her teacher Rekha in Andal. She launched a duster to 10 year old Babli and caused student’s death. Some days ago a girl lost life to a tight slap by her female teacher at Behala. Guardian of the students of primary schools really anxious because of the way female teachers are showing their attitude, pouring anger on the kids. Now the cunning Rekha who hurled the wooden piece is on the run.

One of Babli’s classmates said, “She (the teacher) found some mistakes while going through Babli’s Bengali notebook. She shouted at her and in a fit of rage threw the duster at her.” The duster hit Babli, who was sitting in front row, on her forehead. She collapsed and vomited four times, she said.

Teachers rushed Babli to a nearby nursing home in Andal Bazar around 12.45pm but her condition deteriorated. At 4.30pm, when the child became still, she was taken to a hospital in the industrial town of Durgapur, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

It was only then that her guardians — a maternal uncle and aunt — were informed. On Friday, hundreds of people surrounded the school demanding that the teacher be handed over to them. Headmistress Tapati Bhattacharjee called the police but the crowd refused to budge.

Babli’s body was kept at Andal police station as people did not allow the police to take it to Durgapur Hospital for a postmortem. The gherao was lifted only after the headmistress lodged a police complaint.

This is what happens when you keep any non-trained person as a teacher, only because he/she is a relative to someone with approach. Teaching is a profession which requires responsibility but it is dealt with utmost irresponsibility.

There is no value of human life in India i suppose. Parents send their children to school to get educated and in return get to see their dead children. I think Mr. Sibbal should now order the teachers to get the trainings on how to behave in their classrooms.

India...please make 'soft skill' trainings mandatory to each and every citizen of the country so that we all learn the basic human etiquette to deal with people surrounding us.

How could a teacher hit a child with the duster? This should not accepted at any cost. Teachers are supposed to shape the future of the children and not kill them in the schools.
