Malegoan resident Bapu Mali was in jail for five years as an under trial battling rape and murder charges. Even after the trial court acquitted him, Mali spent five more years in prison as he didn’t pay the bail amount when his case went into appeal.
This is not the first case where a man getting victimised for false raping charge in India. Whenever a rape occurs media jumps onto it and it makes hot news for crowd. Everybody wants to see the blood of rapist...without judging the whole scenario and the truth we want hard punishment. Nobody bothers who is actually behind the crime or it is a false case or not - neither media nor police or even judges. Advocates make it warmer by giving some speech of violence of women etc etc.
Now High court orders government to pay 1 Lakh to the man who languished in prison for 10 years for a crime he didn’t commit. What will the poor man do with the money? Even a primary teacher’s annual income is double than it. Can it wash his entire trauma? Can he live peacefully in society as free citizen?
Many poor people can’t furnish the bail amount and rotten in jail. But why a person remains in jail after he is acquitted? Assistant of Gangster Monika Bedi came out so easily and now she is doing some reality shows but many innocent people may be suffering in jail.
